The blos

This is the best where-did-it-come-from story, even if I do say so myself. My friend was over one day helping with a project. While we worked, she told me about her recent visit to her home town. Then she said, “You won’t believe what I did.”

Of course, that got my attention.

“I just couldn’t face my family trying to set me up with a guy up there so I’ll move back home. I don’t want I boyfriend and I don’t want to move back to that dinky town.”

So what did she do, you ask. I did, too.

“I was totally freaking about fighting off all the well-meaning friends, so when I saw this great-looking guy in the airport, well, I asked him to have his picture made with me. He even gave me his card and told me to call him when I got back.” She pulled his card from her purse. “By the way, when my friends and family saw the pictures of this hot boyfriend they quit nagging me and I had the best visit ever.”

After I stopped laughing, I sat down at the computer and hammered out three pages outlining Pants On Fire, including the title, characters, the town of Truboro, South Carolina and the conflict that would keep the story going for 300 pages. Overall, a great afternoon!

Pants On Fire was a Golden Heart finalist in 2004, and I’m working on the screenplay based on the novel.  Hmmm, who would you choose to play Bailey Crawford? And Spence?
Pants on Fire ...
where did it come from?
